Welcome to my Blog!

Finding something you enjoy doing in life and then being blessed to be able to share that with people is how I would descibe my journey in photography.  I love it, I'm blessed by it, and glad to share it...

I hope you enjoy browsing through my blog.  You'll find pictures of everything I bring my camera to - hanging out with friends, concerts, celebrations, portraits, vacations, and everything in between.

My focus is primarly on wedding photography.  But, in general I enjoy event photography, sports, and well.. pretty much any good reason for me to use my camera!  I am truly blessed to be happy with what I do and hope you enjoy my pictures, ramblings, and little snapshots of my life every now and then... Thanks for stopping by!  Feel free to leave a message or contact me :-)

Rob and Jessica’s Wedding…

Saint Anne’s of the Sunset / The Argonaut Hotel – San Francisco, CA

Time moves fast – and now too fast for me to bother to keep track. One day the toughest business that concerned me included getting definitions for accelerated vocab memorized, wondering if we were gonna get to play mountain ball for P.E., and saving my lunch money to buy valentine grams for all my friends (and how to color one of them so it looks “extra special” for that now not-so-secret grade school crush! Haha!). Seeing old friends getting married are a reminder to me that we’ve gone on to big things…that my 13th birthday party, the one with the DJ and the house full of friends – the one that I thought was so cool – was…well…elementary (okay, it was still WAY cool for its time)…With all this, the underlying truth is – I might be in a bit of denial…Have we really grown up this much?

Being a wedding photographer affords you the opportunity to be an intimate observer of one of the most special days of anyone’s life. You get a free pass to the entire day’s events. And for me, I couldn’t have been any more happy than to get that ticket to Jessica and Rob’s wedding. One thing that you might not realize is that this “backstage pass” also affords you another opportunity – the chance to not only observe, but to learn and immediately get to know the bride AND groom in an unprecedented way. You see the couple in many of their most vulnerable moments, sometimes not always in front of everyone on the altar… I’ve known Jessica since I can remember, but getting to also know Rob was a sincere pleasure – he is a really great guy. I can see why the love and care for each other so much. Rob and Jess – you are both incredible – and I’m just thankful that you’ve let Vaness and I be a part of your day… Well – onto the images! Cuz let’s face it, that’s why you’re here! I seriously couldn’t narrow it down, so be prepared for a long post… Starting with Jess’s beautiful dress… Enjoy!

Jessica – you were seriously glowing… completely and entirely gorgeous my friend…

All the ladies looking amazingly stunning…

The guys rocked the socks with the best of ‘em…nice fellahs, nice…

There are a lot of great moments in a wedding, but I think this part ranks as my favorite…the reactions are priceless…

Growing up in this church, I kinda know the lay of the land… but photographing it’s grandeur is still a challenge. I have to say, to me – it’s still one of the most beautiful churches I’ve seen…

A time of prayer with the parents and nearly wedded couple…

First Kiss!

Other favorite moments in the wedding ceremony? Here’s another one right here… a surreal walk down memory lane – where the many circles, times, and paths of everyone you both know all collide in one ceremonial parade line – and you are front and center…indescribable feelings, and the resulting expressions are just a small clue to the flurry of thoughts…

After the ceremony we headed to the reception at The Argonaut Hotel by Fisherman’s Wharf at the Cannery… Awesome setting… but before that, we got a quick chance to take just a few shots around the area and even get one on a Cable Car at the Hyde Street turn-around!

You remember our preview right?

Funny moment…a passerby and her daughter were so enamored with our bride and groom and their moment on the Cable Car that they had to get a picture for themselves too… Rob and Jess were sweet to oblige…

The folks at Shutterbooth.com provided the photobooth fixings…

Rob’s speech was real good – like, real good. The sharing of the series of events that led to Jess and Rob meeting with a great bit of personal perspective on fate… The Giants certainly did give something back…

After the first dance, the father-daughter and mother-son dances…

Now onto the fun… the band rocked it…

Congrats Rob and Jess! I hope and pray for the best for your marriage! Thank you so much for letting us be a part of your big day…

March 8, 2010 - 10:41 pm Pops - You getting married. Your friends, some I've known since elementary and high school, getting married. It just adds joy in this phase of my life. Your images bear witness to growth, stepping stones, and life passages. Thanks for letting us see them through your eyes--just beautiful.

March 8, 2010 - 6:46 pm Bob & Karen Arzave - These are beautiful. Thanks for being part of Jessica & Rob's big day.

Channing and Jennifer – Engagement…

Land’s End Trail – San Francisco, CA

I don’t think I would be the greatest roommate – even more reason to add points to my wife for being a saint… I sleep at the oddest hours ever, I snore, and rumor has it – I talk in my sleep. Somehow David put up with me in my second year of college (thanks David) and Channing, my first year roommate, (thanks Channing) made it through un-scarred. Channing fortunately, was the type of first year roommate you get in college that you hope to get. Easy to get along with and talk to, shares his instant soup when you are hungry and it’s too late to go out at night, and just genuinely an all around nice guy – my kind of people…He has always made some sort of an effort – something that I’m not the best with – at keeping in touch. Droppin a line on facebook or sayin’ hi on chat…

Hearing about his engagement not even a month ago was definitely exciting. It so happened that I was going to be in the Bay Area for a wedding and another photo session – and yet another great bit of timing was that Channing prepared to propose just the day before he scheduled the short mini-shoot with me… It worked out perfectly and of course she said yes! Channing – you are a great guy – and I’m glad that you found such a sweet girl as Jennifer. She was a total natural through this whole session and a complete sweetheart. Channing on the other hand – nice guy and all – but gave me a huge laugh when he thanked me for the ‘model posing lessons’ more than the shoot itself! You did alright my friend, you did alright… Well you’ve already seen the preview of the amazing setting… So let’s get right to it!

You remember our little preview not even a few posts ago right?

Beautiful… and great shots both by my wife! Great job babe! She’s got the eye!

So I haven’t even explained THIS part of the shoot… Vaness and I get there a bit early and Channing told me beforehand that he had a bit of a cool little surprise for the shoot. No idea what it was – all he said was that it was four wheeled and NOT a wheelchair – uh – I didn’t even have a guess… A car would be a bit too obvious… As we are waiting – off in the distance I see this… well… this Ferrari – and the thought in my head was “WOW. NICE Car… But what the heck is this car doing all the way out here?”. It got closer and closer… Channing and Jennifer pull up inside the car… I left my jaw on the floor and shuffled over to the passenger door. “Are you serious?” “Oh yes” Channing responded. Yah, he went and topped off the proposal and the day-after-engagement shoot with a weekend joy-ride in the ‘head turner’… Seriously – I think we would have had more time to shot had not every man as far as the eye can see stopped over to say, “Uh, nice car dude.” That’s pretty much all you CAN say – I mean – that’s all that spilled out of MY mouth when I saw it… Well – it certainly was a NICE touch and definitely made for a great additional piece to the shoot… And I got to geek out and take up close pics of a Ferrari for the first time! There’s a first for everything. I just wish I was a bit better at automotive photography…

My shot on the left was my initial frame and I was pretty satisfied with it.. But, my wife took it to another level with the shot on the right…one that she wanted to save for herself and surprise me when I edit. And man I was impressed. Beautiful reflection shot. And she had a few more little framings of the concept too.. I’m so glad she came out with that little gem…

We had a really great time shooting (or model pose teaching) with you two! Congratulations on the engagement and I hope for nothing but the best ahead!

March 2, 2010 - 1:48 pm Catie Ronquillo - Dude! Love the light through the trees. Sooo pretty! :)

March 1, 2010 - 7:53 pm Channing - "Vaness and I get there a bit early..." More like Jennifer and I got there very very late. Thanks again for the awesome pics, can't wait for the full album!
