Point Loma – San Diego, CA
I don’t know the exact date that I made a decision for Christ – but it was during a time when I didn’t really know where I stood… I grew up knowing ABOUT God, but relationship? It was early in the college years and I was invited to The Flood by my friend Bien – and after coming back a few more times, the message reached me, and I knew I had to stand… Next to the message at The Flood, I took immediate notice of the house worship band, Something Like Silas. My friend gave me a sample of their live CD and I was hooked. There was something about their sound…
Fast forward almost 4 years and I’m serving in Jamaica with Miles Ahead Ministry in my first true trial-by-fire as a photographer roomed with Brother Joe and Jimmy. A week-long trip fully focused on documenting what God was doing – I was blessed – being a witness to the miracles, learning to actually be a photographer in a photojournalistic style, and – of course – the chance to put down the camera to contribute to serving the people of Jamaica in a more traditional sense. Well, at any rate, I catch wind of Future of Forestry playing on Brother Joe’s Computer as we worked late finishing up the daily edits. Somethin’ familiar… I come to learn that they were formally known as ‘Something Like Silas’ – a new name, a new direction, new pieces, same graceful/powerful sound. If you get a chance to hear ‘em – you’ll love them and hopefully will be blessed by them as I was.. Here are just a few shots from their Christmas 2009 tour – first stop The Rock Church… Enjoy!
