The Cottage – La Jolla, CA
If you asked me – how’d you get your start… I’d first respond, “shoot – everywhere and anytime you can”… and then I’d say, “make sure to get the support of your friends – cuz you’re gonna need all the help you can”… Case and point – friends came in the form of an old resident of mine named Cynthia back when I was an R.A. at UCSD 6th college… and the help came in the form of my first initial portfolio building. I broadcasted a desperate all points bulletin – FREE PHOTOSESSION! And Cynthia – now almost 2 years ago – responded to the call and volunteered to be my helpless photo subject with her boyfriend, Daniel (great name bro – absolutely great name!)… Truly – they were my FIRST EVER real shoot… Looking back – I’d like to say I have come a long way cuz I was definitely a rookie then, but there are certainly some major classic images I will always keep with me in my memory of the early days. Daniel and Cyn – you were the best – I spent almost 2.5 hours fumbling and bumbling through that session – I didn’t even have to ask – I KNOW you were dead tired after halfway through!!! But I learned. LOTS.
Well as fate would have it – that very session would turn out to be a VERY early engagement session of sorts… because they’re now married! They asked me to come by and cover their intimate wedding reception luncheon for a few hours – I wouldn’t ever say no to that! They held it at The Cottage in La Jolla (which, by the way, is ON THE MONEY for brunch – a must visit for sure)…Everything was completely GOLDEN. Work with old clients??? Ha. More like spending a day shooting for the ones who gave me my FIRST real chance to get a start. I love you both for giving me a shot from THE very beginning! I mean it isn’t even fair to say you believed in me – because I had ZERO work to base that belief on!!! But here we are… and I can say from that day almost 2 years ago, we have both arrived in very good places now

I have to mention – Daniel and Cynthia were awesome hosts. They did everything they could to make the celebration smooth, but most importantly they worked beyond themselves to make connections throughout the day with their guests from start to finish…
The Cottage was a place that is a favorite of Daniel and Cynthia – one that they frequented often in their dating days…Tellin’ you – the food’s on point – visit if you can…

Oh, and one more – rings – paired with their cake-toppers… C’mon – isn’t that mad cute?? And – it’s probably the only place in all of San Diego that day that had any resemblance of a snowy winter… 70 and sunny – all year round. You gotta love it!
Daniel and Cynthia – you are both amazing people and an awesome couple. I wish you nothing but joy and success in your new marriage! I’m glad you helped me way back in the first days and I was just happy to be a part of one of your biggest days! Congrats!
